Hannover: Grading and Application

Grandmaster Seminar

The Grading and Application Seminar is a focused training event designed to bridge the gap between technical proficiency and real-world movement. It serves two core purposes: formal assessment of student progress across EBMAS levels, and intensive hands-on practice of how techniques apply under pressure. What Happens During the SeminarDuring the seminar, students work through structured grading assessments that evaluate their understanding of Wing Tzun forms, footwork, and foundational principles. Instructors observe how you execute Siu Nim Tao (the first form), basic Chi Sao (sticky-hands drills), and entry techniques. The goal is not perfection-it's clarity of intent and consistent application of structure.Alongside formal grading, the seminar includes application drills where you test your techniques against live resistance. This is where Wing Tzun and Latosa Escrima principles meet reality. You'll practice how a Biu Tze (thrusting-finger) strike works when a partner is moving, how Escrima footwork adapts to changing distance, and how to maintain centerline control under pressure. Why Application MattersTheory without application is incomplete. Knowing the shape of a Wing Tzun position is different from holding it while someone resists. These seminars force that conversation between what you've drilled alone and what actually works when someone pushes back. You'll also see how students at different levels approach the same problem. Watching senior students handle pressure teaches you what's possible. Working with newer students reminds you of the fundamentals.Who Should AttendAny EBMAS student preparing for a grade, or anyone curious about how their technique holds up under realistic conditions. You don't need to be "ready"-that's the point of coming.
